The Miami HEAT Select XCO SportsLink to Develop Smartphone App for 2011-2012 Season
After extensive research and due diligence, the Miami HEAT of the National Basketball Association (NBA) have selected XCO SportsLink to provide their native mobile application platform, which is scheduled to launch during the 2011-2012 season.
The XCO SportsLink solution offers a wide range of features, analytics, and technology services that will enable the HEAT to create and manage their own content so that fans can easily download dynamic applications to their smartphones. All content will be available through a cell carrier or Wi-Fi network connection to a fan’s smartphone and will also provide off-line capability.
“Thanks to our friends at XCO SportsLink, HEAT fans will be able to enjoy all the excitement of the HEAT experience on their mobile phones,” said Eric Woolworth, President of The HEAT Group’s Business Operations. “The app XCO SportsLink has created is—in a word—awesome.”

The HEAT app will offer mobile access to news, scores, exclusive videos and content, special offers, and more. Additionally, social media connectivity will allow users to share content with the team and each other including a robust Twitter implementation, Facebook, and CoverItLive.
The app will initially be available for download for a variety of smartphones. The aim of these mobile apps is to connect the HEAT with an expanding audience of smartphone users which now numbers over 70 million in the U.S.
“The Miami HEAT mobile app initiative will be a collaborative partnership,” said Alan Hayman, President of XCO SportsLink. “We look forward to helping the HEAT bring their mobile vision to life by leveraging our innovative solution and platform developed for their fans and sponsors.”
Promotions and internal links for corporate partners can be embedded into the program for marketable and measurable ROI opportunities, creating a new and expansive platform for current and future Miami HEAT corporate partners to reach fans.
